Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of a Medical Assistant program or relevant experience (EMT, Medic, CNA ,etc.)
• BLS certification or must be able to complete certification within 30 days of hire
• Experience utilizing excellent customer service skills
• Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology
• Demonstrated proficiency in Windows navigation and a variety of MS Office software applications
• Demonstrated ability to type and enter data efficiently and accurately

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and escorts them to exam room; performs hand washing, weighs patients, takes vital signs and patient history.
• Responds to incoming patient calls and communicates pertinent information to physician or designee for continuity of care.
• Communicates lab results, physician orders, and medication instructions to patients.
• Provides front desk assistance: registering, scheduling and verifying insurance; electronic eligibility verification; update patient demographics; manage no-show and waiting lists.
• Prepares exam room and ensures supplies; manages medical supply inventory and cleans equipment.
• Obtains co-pays, co-insurance, self-pay, and processes payments; contributes to revenue cycle.
• Maintains patient records and supports referrals and authorizations.
• Assists with scheduling appointments and obtaining referrals when necessary.
• Completes basic Medical Assistant competencies and participates in departmental meetings.
