Job summary

HCA Florida North Florida Hospital seeks a Medical Assistant to support clinical and clerical functions in a patient-centered environment. The role includes greeting patients, obtaining vital signs, preparing exam rooms, and assisting clinicians with procedures.

Responsibilities also cover registration, medical records preparation, chart reconciliation, scheduling, and ensuring timely communication of patient information within the team.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED.
• At least 2 years’ experience performing Medical Assistant duties in a doctor’s office or outpatient setting.
• Certification as a Medical Assistant or CNA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms.
• Obtains vital signs and weighs patients.
• Prepares exam rooms and maintains cleanliness.
• Assists with exams and procedures.
• Manages stock and orders supplies.
• Distributes lab, imaging and test reports as authorized.
• Infection control duties including nasopharyngeal scope as directed.
• Reads charts and communicates significant information to clinicians.
• Assists with patient registration and prepares medical records.
• Schedules appointments and maintains patient charts.
• Tracks referrals and reconciles orders in charts.
• Delivers timely and accurate patient information across the care team.
• Educates patients and families to understand discharge instructions.

Education

High School Graduate / GED

Minimum 2 years’ experience in a doctor’s office or outpatient setting performing Medical Assistant duties

Certification as a Medical Assistant or CNA preferred
