Job summary

CommUnityCare in Round Rock, Texas seeks a Medical Assistant to perform clinical and administrative duties, including patient intake, vital signs, and basic lab tests. The role supports providers and coordinates referrals, with emphasis on accurate charting in the EHR/EPM system.

The position requires a Medical Assistant Diploma or national certification, completion of an externship, and ongoing CPR certification. High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Medical Assistant Diploma and/or National Medical Assistant Certification verifying graduation from a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent military healthcare experience.
• Completion of a medical assistant externship
• Current Health Care Provider CPR certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross; maintenance required during employment.

Responsibilities

• Interview patient and record medical history; measure vital signs.
• Verify patient information and complete intake into EHR/EPM.
• Greet patients and assist with telephone inquiries and information.
• Collect, perform and document CLIA-waived lab tests (urine dip, pregnancy tests, glucose, etc.).
• Prepare specimens (blood, urine, stool, sputum) and assist with examinations or procedures.
• Support pre-visit planning and administer medications per formulary.
• Document and discharge patients, coordinate referrals and test follow-ups.
• Maintain a clean, stocked clinical environment and assist with scribing if needed.
