Job summary

Horizon Health in Paris, IL is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians with patient care and workflow across multiple clinics. The role involves clinical and administrative tasks, including patient intake, documentation, specimen collection, and coordination of testing to ensure timely, high‑quality care for patients of all ages.

Hours are Monday–Friday, 7a–3:30p. Pay ranges from $15.25/hour to $20.979/hour, based on experience, with a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Current BLS or obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to work variable hours and/or float to another clinic location to meet organizational needs.
• Possesses basic computer skills.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Possesses basic clinical skills for the position.

Responsibilities

• Assists staff and providers in patient care and workflow.
• Performs intake of patient visits capturing historical and current wellness information including screenings.
• Queues orders and testing for authorized sign off.
• Prioritizes incoming communications and results to manage clinical workflows.
• Assists with obtaining prior authorizations with insurance companies.
• Documents onto the electronic health record and completes requisitions as indicated.
• Obtains specimens and follows infection control guidelines.
• Maintains patient safety and a positive patient experience.
• Inventories supplies and communicates needs.
