Job summary

Ochsner Health in New Orleans seeks a Medical Assistant to provide individual patient care in person, electronically, and by phone under licensed supervision. You will support patients and providers, prepare for visits, document registrations, and ensure smooth flow through the clinic.

The role requires a high school diploma (preferred completion of a medical assistant program) and BLS certification. You will work with diverse patients, maintain confidentiality, and uphold quality standards

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of formal medical assistant training program preferred.
• Experience handling confidential information in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Supports the patient and provider throughout the patient visit.
• Ensures the patient and provider are prepared for the visit.
• Ensures the patient’s questions are answered prior to leaving; prepares room for next appointment.
• Provides excellent patient service through effective communication both over the phone and in person.
• Completes appropriate documentation including patient registration if necessary.
• Maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials through personal professional development.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy and explaining services clearly.
• Performs other related duties as required.
• Accompany physicians to satellite clinic locations.
