Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care under the provider and to support the Practice Director and Manager in coordinating clinic personnel and standards of care.

The role includes patient intake, documentation in medical records, assisting with procedures, education, and room preparation. CPR cert is required and computer literacy is essential in a busy ambulatory setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program, preferred.
• Certification as a Medical Assistant, preferred.
• CPR certification, required.
• Experience providing administrative duties and clinical care in a physician practice or ambulatory clinic setting, preferred.
• Computer literacy, required.
• Broad range of administrative and technical skills in the context of the healthcare environment.
• Demonstrates critical thought process and can work independently.

Responsibilities

• Receives patient from the waiting room and escorts the patient to the exam room.
• Obtains and records all intake information in the patient medical record and documents department specifics.
• Records patient critical lab values, adverse reactions and pertinent information and reports to the provider.
• Prepares patient and provider with setup and cleanup of procedures.
• Observed universal precautions and aseptic techniques with patient and proper use of instruments.
• Able to perform administrative duties.
• Assists with patient education in conjunction with the provider.
• Inventories exam rooms and determines supply needs; restocks rooms to par level.
• Assists with daily cleaning of exam rooms and clinic station areas; notes maintenance needs.
• Performs other job duties as assigned.
