Job summary

Mary Free Bed in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Day Shift Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) to provide direct patient care under supervision. The role supports nurses and providers and helps patients progress toward rehabilitative goals.

You will perform vital signs, routine treatments, prepare charts, administer meds as ordered, maintain supplies, and educate patients. Must have CMA/RMA certification, MA training, and at least 2 years' experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of Medical Assistant training/certificate; CMA or RMA certification.
• At least two years of clinical patient care experience (MA/LPN).
• Thorough knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proficiency with computers and basic software (Microsoft Office, email).
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to stay calm and act in emergencies.
• Current American Heart Association BLS for HealthCare Providers.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care within license scope and clinic protocols.
• Conduct pre-visit planning by reviewing/updating patient charts.
• Prepare patients for exams by noting health history in chart.
• Take and record vital signs.
• Assist clinical staff in examinations and procedures.
• Administer medications and injections as ordered.
• Complete forms and obtain provider signatures as needed.
• Manage supplies and clean instruments/equipment.
• Educate patients and maintain patient files/records.
• Stock and inventory exam rooms.
• Communicate with patients about medical advice.
• Occasionally relocate within the clinic to provide support.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
