Job summary

Medical Specialists of the Palm Beaches, Inc. seeks a dedicated Medical Assistant with front desk experience to support both clinical care and administrative operations. You will greet patients, verify insurance, schedule appointments, prepare for examinations, and assist physicians with procedures.

Ideal candidates have back-office and front-desk experience, familiarity with HMO referrals, CPT/ICD-10 codes, and strong patient-service skills in a fast-paced office.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior MA experience and front desk responsibilities required; 1–2 years preferred.
• Formal Medical Assistant training or certification preferred.
• Knowledge of HMO insurance carriers, verification and referral requirements required.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and medical billing preferred.
• Experience with Athena EMR and CPT/ICD-10 codes a plus.
• Billing and coding education or certification a plus.
• Proficient computer skills and EMR documentation; strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, obtain vital signs, document information, and assist with triage and assessments as directed.
• Prepare patients for examinations and assist physicians with procedures.
• Provide patient education and follow instructions.
• Coordinate scheduling and pre-certification for tests (CT, MRI, PET).
• Maintain accurate patient charts and documentation.
• Front desk duties: check-in, verify insurance, referrals, and demographics.
• Answer calls, route messages, and schedule appointments.
• Process faxes and forward records to staff; protect patient confidentiality.
• Assist with other clinical and administrative duties as assigned.
