Job summary

UPMC | GoHealth Urgent Care in the Pittsburgh area is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform patient registration, prepare patients for exams, take vital signs, and support clinicians in a fast-paced urgent care setting.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or equivalent and 1+ years MA experience or MA certifications (CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA). BLS is required, and CPOE certification is required if MA certification is not obtained within 12 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent and 1+ years of working experience as a Medical Assistant in a Hospital, Primary Care, Emergency Department, or Urgent Care setting, OR MA certifications (CCMA CMA RMA NCMA NRCMA).
• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing, LPN or LVN at the time of hire (verified through state license) may also qualify.
• CPOE certification required within 2 weeks of hire if MA certification is not obtained at hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire.
• One of: CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA certifications (or equivalents) within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify insurance and documentation.
• Schedule appointments and process co-pays.
• Prepare patients for examination and record medical history.
• Perform vital signs and preliminary patient assessments.
• Conduct point-of-care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG).
• Assist providers with patient care and procedures.
• Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and medical records.
• Answer patient questions and coordinate referrals.
• Perform opening/closing duties and maintain equipment quality checks.
