Job summary

CLS Health is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join a multispecialty practice in Houston. The MA will support patient care by rooming patients, taking vitals, and updating medical histories with accuracy.

You will prepare charts, verify benefits, manage scanning and documentation, and assist physicians with procedures. Strong communication and multitasking are required; bilingual skills preferred.

Qualifications

• Certified or registered Medical Assistant credential or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program is required.
• Two years+ of experience preferred in medical offices or customer service.
• Bilingual preferred; excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Rooming the patient and updating chief complaint and medical history.
• Take vitals and update medication lists.
• Prepare patient charts a week in advance and verify benefits reports.
• Scan documents to appropriate patient charts and ensure rooms are stocked and clean.
• Assist physician with wound care and procedures in the exam room.
• Schedule follow-up appointments and obtain necessary authorizations.

We Are Looking For

Someone who is an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty medical practice. The medical assistant should perform a supportive role in delivering comprehensive care to the patient that is safe, effective, and efficient.

Responsibilities

• Rooming the patient
• Interview/update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance.
• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Makes sure all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day.
• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications.
• Ensures that physician is in-network and authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient's chart.
• Assist the physician in the exam room with any wound care and/or procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation
• Educates and informs the patient of any DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered.
• Schedules patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient.
• Obtains authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
• Main fax line– Distribute faxes to appropriate team member(s)
• Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program
• Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant preferred
• Bilingual preferred
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred
