Sign-On Bonuses for Medical Assistants:

  • $4,000 for 0-1 years of experience (full-time)
  • $5,000 for 1+ years of experience (full-time)

Note: Bonuses are prorated for part-time hires; per diem hires are ineligible. Current MaineHealth employees are ineligible; former employees are ineligible until more than 6 months of separation.

Summary:

The Medical Assistant (MA) performs duties related to patient care and administrative support in a team-based environment, ensuring smooth patient flow. The MA works under the license of the physician or advanced practice practitioner when performing clinical and patient care responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following:
    • Graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience;
    • Completed an Adult Education Medical Assistant program with 6 months of clinical experience;
    • One year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting (equivalent experience evaluated case-by-case).
  2. Licenses/Certifications: Current certification from AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT preferred or achieved within one year of eligibility. Current BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of start. For positions in New Hampshire, NH Med Tech License or NH EMT and National Registry EMT license are required.
  3. Experience: One year as a Medical Assistant or 6 months with certification.
