For a limited time, MaineHealth is offering sign-on bonuses for Medical Assistants:

  • $4,000 for 0-1 years of experience (full-time)
  • $5,000 for 1+ years of experience (full-time)

Bonus eligibility criteria:

  • Hired into a Full or Part-time MA position with offer accepted. Bonus amount prorated for Part-time hires; per diem hires are ineligible.
  • Current MaineHealth employees are ineligible; former employees are ineligible until more than 6 months have passed since separation.
Role Summary:

The Medical Assistant (MA) performs patient care and administrative duties in a team-based environment, ensuring smooth patient flow. The MA operates under the license of the physician or advanced practice practitioner when performing clinical and patient care responsibilities.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
  1. Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following:
  • Graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience,
  • Completed an Adult Education Medical Assistant program with 6 months of clinical experience,
  • One year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting (equivalent experience will be evaluated case-by-case).
  • License/Certifications: Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT certification preferred or achieved within 1 year. Current BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of start date. For positions in New Hampshire, NH Med Tech License or NH EMT and National Registry EMT license is required.
  • Experience: Relevant Medical Assistant experience preferred.
