UPMC is hiring a Medical Assistant for their Orthopaedics office in Washington, PA.

Hours are Monday through Friday, primarily daylight shifts, with rotating hours from 6:30am to 4:30pm. No evenings, weekends, or holidays required. Responsibilities include back and front office duties. Previous experience is preferred.

Applicants will be placed on the Medical Assistant Career Ladder based on experience and education.

Responsibilities:

• Manage patient records in compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
• Obtain lab, x-ray, hospital notes, and referrals; complete forms; schedule appointments; verify insurance; manage charts.
• Prepare exam rooms, set up instruments, maintain infection control, and manage supplies.
• Organize patient flow, assist patients with transfers and procedures, take vitals, and relay instructions.
• Answer calls, provide patient education, perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and assist physicians.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA, CLIA, and state requirements; ensure confidentiality.
• Administer injections and vaccines under supervision, as appropriate.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, basic computer skills, and knowledge of medical terminology.

Licensure and Certifications:

• CPR (AHA standards) within 30 days of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR.
• Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal.
• Act 33 and 34 with renewal.
• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
