Job summary

Essentia Health in Duluth, MN seeks a Float Clinical Assistant to support RN, Physician and other providers across primary care, specialty clinics and urgent care. You will respond to workload needs, perform procedures within demonstrated competencies, and care for patients from newborns to elders.

The role requires flexibility and adaptability to work in multiple units; you will document in EHR, maintain safe environment, and participate in ongoing education.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Minnesota or Wisconsin OR current registration or certification as a Medical Assistant OR completion of a Medical Assistant Program and certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in accordance with policies and standards.
• Float to various departments as assigned to ensure safe and effective patient care.
• Assist healthcare providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR).

Job Description: Assists RN, Physician and other providers and provides direct patient care within multiple healthcare facilities in order to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health. This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work in various clinical settings, including primary care, specialty clinics, and urgent care. The Float Clinical Assistant will be assigned to different units based on workload, patient acuity, and staffing needs. Will perform identified procedures for which competencies have been demonstrated. Cares for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted on age-related category.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards.
• Float to various departments as assigned, ensuring that patient care is delivered safely and effectively.
• Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR).

Hours

Monday-Friday with varying start times between Weekend availability

Licensure/Certification Qualifications

Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in appropriate state, i.e. Minnesota, Wisconsin, OR current registration or certification as a Medical Assistant OR Verifiable completion of a Medical Assistant Program and must become certified within one year of date of hire. (Must pass certification within two attempts) Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certified, or able to obtain within 3 months. (Department 46680 – Registry Management Team: BCLS certification is not required)
