Job summary

Franciscan Alliance is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and ambulatory clinics in Mooresville, Indiana. Responsibilities include rooming patients, taking vitals, documenting histories, administering vaccines and injections, and assisting with EMR documentation under RN/Provider supervision.

Required are a High School Diploma/GED and a Medical Assisting program, with BLS and MA certifications highly preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Medical Assisting program required.
• Alternatively, 5 years MA experience in lieu of program.
• BLS certification required.
• RMA, CMA, NRCMA, NCMA, CCMA certifications encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Support ambulatory clinics and assist providers and staff.
• Coordinate patient care and scheduling of appointments.
• Enter information into electronic medical record system.
• Assist with vital signs, patient history, vaccines, injections, and medications under supervision.
• Handle prior authorizations, referrals, and medication samples as directed.

At Franciscan, our Medical Assistants are critical for supporting a variety of clinical duties for multiple ambulatory clinics. This role assists providers and staff in coordinating patient care, scheduling appointments, executing physician orders for lab testing, entering information in electronic medical record system, and functions as a liaison between patients, coworkers, and providers.

• Provide a more personal approach to direct patient care in a variety of outpatient settings, which may include: rooming patients, taking vitals, obtaining a comprehensive medical history, document care of patient via electronic medical record, administering vaccines, injections, and medications, phlebotomy, point of care testing and medication reconciliation under the supervision of RN/Provider.
• Gather requirements from internal and external customers and provide information via phone, electronic messaging and in person.
• Initiate and follow through on prior authorizations, referrals, and process sample medications, prescriptions, and refills as directed.
