Job summary

Franciscan Alliance, Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians in outpatient clinics, room patients, take vitals, and document care in the electronic medical record. The role may include vaccines, injections, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing under RN/Provider supervision.

Responsibilities include coordinating referrals, prior authorizations, and medication reconciliations while providing a patient-centered experience. Domestic travel is never required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Medical assisting program required.
• BLS certification required.
• Multiple national certifications for Medical Assistants preferred (RMA, CMA, AMT, NRCMA, NCMA, CCMA).

• Support clinicians in outpatient clinics including rooming patients, taking vitals, and charting in the EHR.
• May assist with vaccinations, injections, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing as directed.
• Coordinate patient care by scheduling, referrals, and prior authorizations.

At Franciscan, our Medical Assistants are critical for supporting a variety of clinical duties for multiple ambulatory clinics. This role assists providers and staff in coordinating patient care, scheduling appointments, executing physician orders for lab testing, entering information in electronic medical record system, and functions as a liaison between patients, coworkers, and providers.

• Provide a more personal approach to direct patient care in a variety of outpatient settings, which may include: rooming patients, taking vitals, obtaining a comprehensive medical history, document care of patient via electronic medical record, administering vaccines, injections, and medications, phlebotomy, point of care testing and medication reconciliation under the supervision of RN/Provider.
• Gather requirements from internal and external customers and provide information via phone, electronic messaging and in person.
• Initiate and follow through on prior authorizations, referrals, and process sample medications, prescriptions, and refills as directed.

• Required Program In lieu of program, 5 years of medical assistant experience
