Job summary

Chesterton Health and Emergency Center, part of Franciscan Health, seeks a Medical Assistant Floats to support multiple ambulatory clinics in the Chesterton area. You will assist providers, schedule labs, and document patient information in the EMR while serving as a liaison among patients and staff.

This role requires flexibility to float between regional offices with shifts during 6:30am–6:30pm and up to 50% travel, offering sign-on bonuses and a supportive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Medical Assistant program required or equivalent experience.
• BLS certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Multiple certifications for medical assisting may be listed as acceptable by the employer.

Responsibilities

At Franciscan, our Medical Assistant Floats are criticalfor supporting a variety of clinical duties for multiple ambulatory clinics. This role assists providers and staff in coordinating patient care, scheduling appointments, executing physician orders for lab testing, entering information in electronic medical record system, and functions as a liaison between patients, coworkers, and providers.

• Provide a more personal approach to direct patient care in a variety of outpatientsettings, which may include rooming patients, taking vitals, obtaining a comprehensivemedical history, document care of patient via electronic medical record, administeringvaccines, injections, and medications, phlebotomy, point of care testing and medicationreconciliation under the supervision of RN/Provider.
• Gather requirements from internal and external customers and provide informationvia phone, electronic messaging and in person.
• Initiate and follow through on prior authorizations, referrals, and process samplemedications, prescriptions, and refills as directed.
• Ability to adapt to different work styles, ability to multitask, work well with others, and flexibility preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Required High School Diploma/GED
• Required Program Medical Assisting
• Required Program In lieu of program, 5 years of medical assistant experience
• Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or American Allied Health, Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Medical Assistant (RMA) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or American Registry of Medical Assistants or Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) or National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
