Chesterton Health and Emergency Center, part of Franciscan Alliance, is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians across ambulatory clinics. Responsibilities include rooming patients, taking vitals, documenting histories in EMR, and assisting with vaccines and injections under supervision.

The role emphasizes coordination of care, scheduling, lab orders, and act as a liaison between patients and providers. Standard day shift Mon–Fri with benefits and sign-on bonus eligibility.

Formación

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Medical Assisting program required; in lieu of program, 5 years MA experience.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association required.
• Multiple MA certifications listed (RMA, CMA, NCMA, CCMA, etc.) as acceptable credentials.

Responsabilidades

• Administer vaccines, injections, and medications under supervision.
• Phlebotomy and point-of-care testing.
• Process prior authorizations, referrals, and prescriptions as directed.

At Franciscan, our Medical Assistants are critical for supporting a variety of clinical duties for multiple ambulatory clinics. This role assists providers and staff in coordinating patient care, scheduling appointments, executing physician orders for lab testing, entering information in electronic medical record system, and functions as a liaison between patients, coworkers, and providers.

• Provide a more personal approach to direct patient care in a variety of outpatient settings, which may include: rooming patients, taking vitals, obtaining a comprehensive medical history, document care of patient via electronic medical record, administering vaccines, injections, and medications, phlebotomy, point of care testing and medication reconciliation under the supervision of RN/Provider.
• Gather requirements from internal and external customers and provide information via phone, electronic messaging and in person.
• Initiate and follow through on prior authorizations, referrals, and process sample medications, prescriptions, and refills as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Required High School Diploma/GED
• Required Program Medical Assisting
• Required Program In lieu of program, 5 years of medical assistant experience
• Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Allied Health, Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists (AMT), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Registry of Medical Assistants, Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) - National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
