- Conduct pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient medical records and determining needed services with providers
- Complete pre-charting of value-based pieces up to five days before appointments and message the Care Team when warranted
- Prepare patients for examinations by recording height, weight, vital signs, medications, allergies, histories, smoking status, visit reason and demographic information
- Provide patient care services, maintain clean exam rooms and clinical supplies, clean and autoclave contaminated instruments, and administer injections or immunizations within state guidelines
- Coordinate with providers and Care Teams regarding hospital discharges, emergency visits, consultations, community resources, disease management, education, labs, testing and specialist visits
- Participate in departmental meetings, problem resolution, procedure analysis and quality improvement initiatives
- Dispose of biohazardous and regular waste according to practice protocol
- Maintain vaccine temperature logs, manage inventory and ordering of medical supplies, dispose of expired sample medication and stock rooms to par levels
- Perform administrative tasks including check-in, check-out, and opening and closing office procedures
- Bring improvement suggestions to Practice Managers and Providers
- Complete other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School degree or equivalent required
- Current certification as a Medical Assistant from an accepted accredited organization is required
- Two years of experience in similar healthcare setting is preferred
- Customer service experience is strongly preferred
- BLS/CPR current or obtainable within 60 days of hire through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours at a time
- Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
- Occasionally push wheelchairs with patients weighing up to 325 pounds
- Submit full legal name and current home address
