Base pay range

$38,000.00/yr - $45,800.00/yr

The Medical Scribe 1 will transcribe patient visit notes into the electronic medical record system. Decisions are limited to defined parameters around work expectations, quality standards, priorities and timing, and work under close supervision and/or within established policies/practices and guidelines with minimal opportunity for deviation.

The Medical Scribe 1 contributes to care management by ensuring accurate and thorough transcription of patient notes, working with providers and transcription equipment, including editing and correcting medical dictation performed by speech recognition software. Performs basic administrative, clerical, operational, customer support, and computational tasks. Typically works on routine and patterned assignments. Supports medical assistant duties when scribe services are not needed.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• CPR Certified
• Successful completion of MA training or certification, or 5+ years of relevant experience with provider approval
• Must be screened for Tuberculosis (TB)
• 1+ years of experience as a Medical Scribe/Transcriptionist or similar role involving provider documentation and medical charting

Preferred Experience

• Medical Assistant Certification or Registration (Arizona, Indiana, & South Carolina)
• Phlebotomy, medication/vaccine administration experience
• Experience with Value Based Care, HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and patient experience metrics
• Bilingual in English and Spanish (must pass proficiency exam)
• Proficiency with Electronic Health Record systems and transcription equipment
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, editing skills, and ability to maintain patient confidentiality
• Excellent written communication skills

Working hours

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with travel to nearby clinics as needed.

The estimated starting salary is $38,000 to $45,800 per year, based on location, skills, and experience.
