Job summary

Ohio State University Physicians is seeking a Medical Assistant to support direct patient care in outpatient settings. You will room patients, record vital signs, interview patients, and prepare them for examinations while assisting physicians with procedures.

The role includes preparing treatment rooms, collecting samples, and performing basic lab tests. A Medical Assistant Certification is preferred; tuition reimbursement is available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with at least one listed qualification.
• Preference: Medical Assistant Certification.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, measure and record vital signs (height, weight, temperature, BP, pulse, respiration).
• Complete patient interview and medical history.
• Prepare patients for examinations, tests and treatments; explain procedures.
• Assist in examinations and treatments as ordered by physician.
• Set up equipment and treatment rooms for patients.
• Collect samples (blood, urine, sputum) and perform routine laboratory tests.

Responsibilities

Purpose:

The Medical Assistantrolesassistwith direct patient care, andperformsspecialized medical procedures of a routine nature, as dictated byestablishedclinical protocol.Assistmedical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.

• Room patients, measure and record vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration.
• Complete patient interview and history.
• Prepare patients for examinations, tests and treatments and explain procedures. Assists with procedures as ordered by physician.
• May assist in examinations, carry out treatments and special tests.
• Set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms for patients.
• Collect samples such as blood, urine and sputum from patients, and perform routine laboratory tests on samples.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent along with at least one of the following:

• A diploma from a Medical Assistant Program OR
• Minimum of 1 year of medical assisting experience OR
• Military Medic training OR
• EMT-P (Paramedic) training OR
• Equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education

Preferences:

• Medical Assistant Certification

Pay Range

USD $18.20 - USD $29.33 /Hr.
