Job summary

Trinity Health MI in Grand Rapids is seeking Medical Assistants to support clinicians in a clinic setting, delivering patient-centered care under licensed supervision. You will help with room setup, vitals, EKG, blood draws, injections, and point-of-care tests to ensure smooth visits.

The role requires a high school diploma or MA training, and preferred MA certification; two years of clinical experience if no formal MA program is completed.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of accredited MA program with externship or internship.
• Preferred: CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA, NRCMA, or CMAC certification.
• Minimum 2 years clinical experience in a community-based clinic if no MA program completed.

Responsibilities

• Room setup and patient preparation.
• Taking vitals (manual and electronic).
• Perform EKG and venipuncture including blood draws.
• Administer injections and immunizations.
• Conduct Point of Care testing and basic pharmacology support.
• Perform in-office procedures and assist clinicians.
• Handle administrative duties related to patient visits.

What you will do

• Room set up and patient preparation
• Taking vitals (Manual & Electronic)
• Perform EKG
• Drawing blood and giving injections and immunizations.
• Performing office tests (Point of Care Testing)
• Pharmacology
• Administrative duties
• May perform or assisting with in-office procedures / treatments

What you will need

• Education- Minimum: High School Diploma or GED. Successful completion of accredited/approved: MA program and MA externship, MA internship, EMT, or Paramedic program.

Credentials/Licensure (Preferred): Certification as a Medical Assistant through one of the following certifying agencies:

• American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
• American Medical Technologists (RMA)
• National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
• National Healthcareer Association (CCMA)
• National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA)
• American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)

• Related Experience- Minimum: In absence of completed MA Program/Externship/Internship, must have 2+ years clinical experience providing clinical support in community-based clinic and be subject to standardized testing and evaluation of clinical skills. Preferred: New graduate or 1 or more years of previous clinical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
