Job summary

Ohio State University Physicians is seeking a Medical Assistant to support direct patient care in a fast-paced outpatient setting. Responsibilities include rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, interviewing patients, preparing for examinations, and assisting with procedures according to clinical protocol.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Diploma from a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent experience.
  • Combination of relevant medical assisting education and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients and record vital signs such as height, weight, temp, BP, pulse, and respiration.
  • Complete patient interview and medical history.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, tests and treatments and explain procedures.
  • Assist in examinations and carry out treatments as ordered by physician.
  • Set up equipment and prepare treatment rooms for patients.
  • Collect samples (blood, urine, sputum) and perform routine lab tests.

Responsibilities

Purpose:

The Medical Assistantrolesassistwith direct patient care, andperformsspecialized medical procedures of a routine nature, as dictated byestablishedclinical protocol.Assistmedical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.

  • Room patients, measure and record vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration.
  • Complete patient interview and history.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, tests and treatments and explain procedures. Assists with procedures as ordered by physician.
  • May assist in examinations, carry out treatments and special tests.
  • Set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms for patients.
  • Collect samples such as blood, urine and sputum from patients, and perform routine laboratory tests on samples.
Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent along with at least one of the following:

  • A diploma from a Medical Assistant Program OR
  • Minimum of 1 year of medical assisting experience OR
  • Military Medic training OR
  • EMT-P (Paramedic) training OR
  • Equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education

Preferences:

  • Medical Assistant Certification

Pay Range
