Job summary

Jackson Purchase Medical Center is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) for the Gastroenterology department. This full-time, day-shift role (Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm) supports clinical and administrative duties in a outpatient setting, including vital signs, EHR documentation, and assisting providers during exams and procedures.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma and an accredited Medical Assisting program; CMA/CCMA/RMA certification is preferred. BLS within 30 days of hire is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program preferred.
• CMA/CCMA/RMA certification preferred is a plus.
• Current BLS certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine clinical and administrative duties in support of the Gastroenterology office.
• Take vital signs, document patient history, and update electronic health records (EHR).
• Assist providers with exams, procedures, and administering medications or injections.
• Perform basic lab tasks, prepare specimens, and maintain clean, stocked exam rooms.
• Support front office and patient care coordination, including scheduling, insurance verification, and patient education.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program preferred. Additional requirements include:

• CMA, CCMA, or RMA certification preferred
• Current BLS certification required within 30 days of hire
• At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant is required.
• Previous phlebotomy experience is preferred.
