Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for our Gastroenterology clinic in Lexington, KY. The position supports outpatient care by performing vital signs, medication reconciliation, patient history collection, and smooth patient flow.

Ideal candidates will have MA training or hands-on clinical experience, BLS within 90 days of hire, and may pursue MA certification or RN/LPN licensure. On-site work is required at BHMG Gastroenterology.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a formal Medical Assistant training program or a minimum of one year of direct patient care in a clinical setting.
• Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs and collect patient history.
• Reconcile medications and assist with clinic procedures.
• Manage electronic health record (EPIC) and schedule appointments.
• Process medication requests and handle prior authorizations.
• Coordinate tests and procedures and support patient flow.
• May perform EKGs, lab tests, injections or phlebotomy after competency.

Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and facilitating patient flow. Additional duties involve managing the electronic health record (EPIC), scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures. Upon successful completion of clinical competency, the role may also require performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/orphlebotomy. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient patient care and support for providers. This role requires regular on-site presence to perform the essential job functions.**Minimum Requirements:*** Graduate of a formal Medical Assistant training program or a minimum of one year of direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinic procedures (e.g. EKGs, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).* Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation.
