Job summary

Ohio State University Physicians seeks a Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care in our outpatient settings. You will perform routine clinical tasks under established protocols and support the medical/nursing staff in examinations and treatments.

The role involves rooming patients, taking vital signs, preparing patients for procedures, collecting samples, and assisting with various tests. Certification and tuition reimbursement programs are available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, with at least one of the listed paths.
• Diploma from a Medical Assistant Program.
• Minimum 1 year of medical assisting experience or equivalent.
• Military Medic training or EMT-P (Paramedic) training or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, measure and record vital signs (height, weight, temperature, BP, pulse, respiration).
• Complete patient interview and history.
• Prepare patients for examinations, tests and treatments; explain procedures.
• Assist with procedures as ordered by a physician.
• May assist in examinations, carry out treatments and special tests.
• Set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms for patients.

Responsibilities

Purpose:

The Medical Assistantrolesassistwith direct patient care, andperformsspecialized medical procedures of a routine nature, as dictated byestablishedclinical protocol.Assistmedical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.

• Room patients, measure and record vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration.
• Complete patient interview and history.
• Prepare patients for examinations, tests and treatments and explain procedures. Assists with procedures as ordered by physician.
• May assist in examinations, carry out treatments and special tests.
• Set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms for patients.
• Collect samples such as blood, urine and sputum from patients, and perform routine laboratory tests on samples.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent along with at least one of the following:

• A diploma from a Medical Assistant Program OR
• Minimum of 1 year of medical assisting experience OR
• Military Medic training OR
• EMT-P (Paramedic) training OR
• Equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education

Preferences:

• Medical Assistant Certification

Pay Range

USD $17.84 - USD $28.75 /Hr.
