Job summary

Ridgeview Medical Center in Minnesota seeks a nursing/support professional to assist providers, perform lab-related duties, and ensure smooth patient flow across OB/GYN clinics. The role includes vitals, medication administration, specimen handling, and patient education while maintaining EMR documentation and clinic operations.

The position travels between Chaska, Waconia, and other Western OB/GYN Clinics, with a $5,000 sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• Graduation from Medical Assisting program or School of Practical Nursing.
• Graduate of clinical laboratory program and/or ability to display and complete job competencies.
• Current LPN Licensure or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Assistant (RMA) (LPNs will have 1 year to become certified in order to maintain employment).
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to examination room and obtain vitals and document in EMR.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per clinic policies.
• Prepare equipment and assist providers during examination, testing and treatment.
• Perform room turnover in patient rooms between cases and at end of day.
• Assist in arranging referrals and prior authorizations as necessary.
• Assist with patient education.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

This position travels between Chaska, Waconia, and other Western OB/GYN Clinics.

Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for performing a variety of patient care related activities including: assisting the providers and performing a variety of diagnostic Lab procedures according to established policies and procedures.

Job Functions

When performing nursing support functions

1. Escorts patients to examination room and obtains vitals and documents in EMR
2. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with clinic policies and scope of certification/licensure
3. Prepares equipment and assists providers during examination, testing and treatment of patients
4. Performs room turnover in patient rooms between cases and at the end of day
5. Assists in arranging referrals/prior authorizations as necessary
6. Assists with patient education
7. Performs other duties as assigned

When performing Lab functions

1. Maintains stocked supplies and inventory
2. Sterilizes instruments, exam rooms and equipment
3. Performs testing procedures as required
4. Prepares procedure room/area and instructs patients
5. Troubleshoots and maintains equipment
6. Completes daily QA/QC procedures and provides maintenance/adjustments to equipment
7. Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Education/Work Experience/License/Certifications

• Graduation from Medical Assisting program or School of Practical Nursing
• Graduate of clinical laboratory program and/or ability to display and complete job competencies
• Current LPN Licensure or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Assistant (RMA) (LPNs will have 1 year to become certified in order to maintain employment)
• Current CPR certification

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Ability to troubleshoot problems with lab testing, equipment, patient samples, and kits
• Skill in performing quality control and maintaining records
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and technique problems
