Job summary

Job description

Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for performing a variety of patient care activities to assist providers and nursing personnel. Facilitates patient/physician/provider communication and coordination of care.

Job Functions
  1. Escorts patients to examination room and obtains vitals and documents in EMR
  2. Administers prescribed medications/vaccine's and treatments in accordance with clinic policies and scope of certification/licensure
  3. Prepares equipment and assists providers during examination, testing and treatment of patients
  4. Performs room turn over in patient rooms between cases and at the end of day
  5. Assists in maintaining stocked supplies and sterilizes instruments/exam rooms
  6. Assists in arranging referrals/prior authorizations as necessary
  7. Assists with patient education
  8. Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Education/Work Experience/License Certifications
  • Graduation from Medical Assisting program or School of Practical Nursing
Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
  • Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions.
  • Ability to serve patients in a friendly and efficient manner.
  • Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a team.
  • Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations.
  • Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above.
License/Certifications
  • Current LPN Licensure if LPN
  • Current CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • EMR experience
