Job Description

Actual compensation offered in the Pay Range of $21.45 - $32.20 for an MA or $23.65 - $35.50 for an LPN and will be based on factors such as qualifications, skills, relevant experience and/or training and internal equity. To accompany base pay we offer a comprehensive benefits package including:

  • 401(k) company contributions: 3% of your eligible annual salary AND 401(k) employer match: dollar for dollar up to 3%

You will be helping our patients live well by:

  • Preparing and rooming patients for exams by obtaining vital signs and gathering pertinent health information (e.g., chief complaint, allergies, medications). Monitoring and completing Clinical Integration/Quality Improvement measures with notification to clinicians for opportunities within their scope.
  • Performing laboratory procedures (e.g., strep test, wound culture, specimen collection) using aseptic techniques and infection control guidelines.
  • Assisting physicians or APCs with procedures such as pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
  • Administering routine medications under physician/APC orders or approved protocols, including immunizations, antibiotics, vitamins, and topical agents.
  • Following through with necessary procedure or test requests, care algorithms, appointments, and referrals. Referring questions to RNs and physicians/APCs as appropriate and relaying information to patients.
  • Communicating effectively with the healthcare team to ensure smooth clinic flow and with patients to provide accurate and timely information.
  • Performing basic and advanced clinical support tasks based on specialty and competencies, such as suture/staple removal, throat/nose cultures, phlebotomy, EKG, spirometry, Holter application, prescription refills, etc., under supervision.
  • Providing age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development, and interpreting patient data to meet individual needs.

Licenses & Certifications

LPN: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

  • Active license issued by the practicing state
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA to be obtained within 45 days unless exempted by department leadership

Medical Assistant:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA to be obtained within 45 days unless exempted by department leadership

Education and/or Degrees Required:

LPN: Completion of an accredited Practical Nursing program

Medical Assistant:

  • GED or HS equivalency diploma
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Perform routine and complex technical skills within the scope of practice after demonstrated competency.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for developing rapport with patients, team members, and physicians.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including electronic medical records systems.
  • Strong customer service skills to support a positive patient experience.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift (up to 35 pounds), squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders.
  • Use patient handling equipment and work with a team for patient lifts over 35 pounds.
  • Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch, and fine motor skills.
  • Exposure to hazards such as mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood, and body fluids; protective equipment required as needed.
  • Operate all necessary equipment for the role.
