The actual compensation range is $21.45 - $32.20 for an MA or $23.65 - $35.50 for an LPN, based on qualifications, skills, experience, and training.
Major Responsibilities
- Prepare and room patients for exams by obtaining vital signs and gathering relevant health information, monitoring and completing Clinical Integration/Quality Improvement measures.
- Perform laboratory procedures such as strep tests, wound cultures, and specimen collection, following aseptic techniques.
- Assist physicians or APCs with procedures like pelvic exams, allergy testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
- Administer routine medications under physician or APC orders, including immunizations, antibiotics, vitamins, and topical agents.
- Follow through with procedures, tests, referrals, and appointments, communicating effectively with patients and team members.
- Perform clinical support tasks like suture removal, phlebotomy, EKG, spirometry, Holter monitoring, and prescription refills, as per competencies and supervision.
- Provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development, and interpret patient data to meet their specific needs.
Licensure or Certifications
- LPN: Licensed Practical Nurse license and BLS certification within 45 days if required.
- MA: BLS certification within 45 days if required.
Degrees
- GED or HS Equivalency Diploma.
- LPN: Completion of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
- MA: Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or 2 years of recent full-time experience.
Experience Required
No prior experience necessary.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within scope of practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with computers and electronic medical records.
- Strong customer service skills to support a positive patient experience.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift (up to 35 lbs), and perform various physical movements.
- Use of patient handling equipment for heavier lifts, with team assistance when needed.
- Exposure to hazards such as blood, body fluids, chemicals, and electrical equipment, with required protective gear.
