Job summary

The Baton Rouge Clinic, AMC is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support our Prairieville Clinic and physicians. The MA or LPN will assist with procedures, schedule procedures, provide patient care, process Rx call-ins, and handle various clerical duties, including prescriptions and pre-certifications.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted LPN license in Louisiana.
• Current CMA certification (NRCMA, CCMA, CMA, RMA).

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care as a member of the health care team within scope of license.
• Follows nursing policies, procedures, and protocols for adult and pediatric patients.
• Provides instructions on treatment plans, medications and follow-up.
• Documents accurately in patient medical records.
• Greets patients and assists with registration.
• Interviews patients and records medical history and medications in myChart.
• Prepares patients for examinations and performs routine screening tests.
• Educates patients on medications and follow-up.
• Triages emergencies.
• Prepares and administers medications with physician authorization.
• Refills and prior authorizations for medications.
