Job summary

The Baton Rouge Clinic, AMC is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to provide quality nursing care services to patients of our Clinic and the physicians providing their care. In this role, the MA will schedule, injections, pre-certifications, procedures, referrals, Rx call-ins, and phone triage, while supporting the health care team and ensuring accurate documentation in patient records.

• Performs scheduling, injections, pre-certifications, and referrals.
• Maintains accurate documentation in patient medical records.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care as a member of the health care team within scope of license.
• Follows nursing policies, procedures, and protocols for adult and pediatric patients.
• Provides instructions to patients regarding treatment plans and medications.
• Communicates effectively with the health care team and documents in records.
• Greets patients, completes registration, and gives instructions.
• Interviews patients, records medical history, and updates information in myChart.
• Prepares patients for examinations and performs routine screening tests.
• Provides patient education on medications and provider instructions.
• Triages emergency situations.
• Prepares and administers medications with physician authorization.
• Handles refill requests and prior authorizations.
