Job summary

The Baton Rouge Clinic, AMC is actively seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to provide quality nursing care services to our patients and support the physicians caring for them. The MA will handle scheduling, injections, pre-certifications, procedures, referrals, Rx call-ins, and phone triage.

Essential duties include patient care within the licensed scope, accurate documentation in medical records, preparing patients for exams, and patient education on medications and follow-up plans.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant with current CMA credential.
• Experience in a clinic setting preferred.
• Diabetes experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care within the scope of license.
• Schedules, injections, pre-certifications, procedures, referrals, Rx call-ins, and phone triage.
• Communicates effectively with the care team and documents in patient records.
• Greet patients, complete registration forms, and give instructions.
• Interview patients and record/update medical information in the chart.
• Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests.
• Provide patient education on medications and follow-up.
• Triages emergencies and administers medications with physician authorization.
• Handle refill requests and prior authorizations for medications.
