Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide patient care in alignment with clinic protocols. You will perform rooming, take vital signs, document medical history, and assist with procedures under supervision.

Responsibilities include lab work (venipuncture and POCT), medication administration, vaccinations, and care coordination such as referrals and scheduling. Strong communication and teamwork are essential in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or structured military clinical training per DD214 in lieu of a program.
• IL/WI divisions require either GED or MA program/comparable experience.
• Wake Forest and Floyd/Navicent require same MA program or 2 years MA experience.
• BLS certification may be required; ability to obtain within 45 days where applicable.
• PEARS may be required within 1 year in select areas.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies.
• Performs rooming tasks including vital signs, history, and screenings.
• Assists providers with procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab duties including venipuncture and POCT per CLIA.
• Administers medications and vaccines following rights of med administration.
• Handles refills, authorizations, scheduling, and referrals.
• Cross trains for duties across clinic specialties.
• Demonstrates effective communication and teamwork.
• Maintains clean work environment and equipment.
• Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific care and growth/development principles.
