Position Overview: $1500 Sign On Bonus

Provides clinical and clerical support to providers and members of the patient care team(s) by performing a variety of back office and patient-related tasks supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care. Helps ensure smooth patient and workflow within the department and assists the patient care team in implementing the medical plan of care. Integrates education, technical competence, and patient interaction skills to gain confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers. Performs all duties under the direction of a clinician.

Job Description:

Limited Term Position for 28 weeks

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Completion of a course for Medical Assistants as specified by the Medical Board of California (diploma required within 90 days)
• OR an approved Sutter Health Training program
• OR completion of Sutter Health on-the-job training equivalent to one year

Certification & Licensure:

• BLS - Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
• MA Certification by a California Medical Board recognized agency (eligible for incentive in 2025)

Typical Experience:

• At least 1 year of relevant experience

Skills and Knowledge:

• Knowledge of medical procedures, views, and equipment
• Understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
• Proficiency in basic Medical Assisting skills such as vital signs, patient preparation, and injections
• Ability to interpret data and instructions in various formats
• Effective communication skills for explaining sensitive information
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Knowledge of computer applications like Microsoft Office and EHR systems

Ability to:

• Prioritize tasks and work within policies and procedures
• Work independently and as part of a team
• Identify and resolve standard problems
• Build collaborative relationships with healthcare providers
