Job summary

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine, Student Health Services seeks a Laboratory Technician 1, Medical Assistant to support fast-paced, patient-centered care. You will enter chief complaints and vital signs in the EHR, perform CLIA-waived tests, assist with procedures, administer meds, and provide immunizations according to strict protocols.

We emphasize adherence to OSHA, infection control, and bloodborne pathogen standards, plus equipment maintenance and staff training.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of laboratory experience performing various laboratory procedures.
• Ability to obtain a State of Nevada Office Laboratory Certification.
• Complies with state and federal lab guidelines (OSHA, infection control, bloodborne pathogens).

Responsibilities

• Enter chief complaints and vital signs in the EHR to support patient flow and care.
• Perform CLIA-waived tests (COVID, pregnancy, urinalysis, strep, mono).
• Assist with medical procedures, administer medications, and provide immunizations per protocols.
• Maintain medical equipment and support training of laboratory staff.
