Indiana Health Centers, Inc. is seeking an Intake Specialist for our Kokomo location to ensure efficient front-office operations and accurate client intake. You will process income documentation, manage check-in, and assist with billing and daily reports.

The role requires strong customer service, Medicaid/Medicare knowledge, and attention to detail in a busy clinic setting with supportive teams.

Qualifications

• Completion of a standard high school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of prior experience in an office or health-related position.
• Proficiency in patient scheduling and front-office procedures.
• Knowledge of Medicaid/Medicare requirements and eligibility processes.
• Strong communication and data-entry accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and manage check-in processes.
• Schedule appointments and inform clients of required documents.
• Answer phones and direct calls appropriately.
• Enter and retrieve data in the EMR system accurately.
• Assist in assembling income documents and supporting paperwork.
• Support daily reporting and billing batches as needed.
• Determine eligibility for Medicaid/Medicare and refer to WIC when appropriate.

IHC Kokomo is now recruiting for an Intake Specialist to join our talented and dedicated team. The Intake Specialist plays a vital role in IHC's mission and goals by ensuring that all client income documentation, front-office paperwork, charts, and billing are handled efficiently. The Intake Specialist works closely with other front office staff to provide excellent customer service to clients over the phone and in the lobby. They also complete billing paperwork and daily reports that are essential for monitoring the overall effectiveness of the clinic.

Intake Specialist Role Responsibilities Include

• Greets clients and visitors to clinic and assists with check in process.
• Makes appointments and educates clients regarding documents they will need to provide at the time of service.
• Answers phones and accurately direct calls.
• Accurately enters, maintains, and retrieves data on IHC's computer system.
• Uses and maintains electronic medical record, accurately assembles income documents, and ensures client information is up to date and complete.
• Assists in timely completion of daily Batches, including migrant worker Batches, ensuring all information is complete and accurate on the superbill and that all supporting documents are attached.
• Assists in running daily Variance Report.
• Determines eligibility and signs up eligible clients for Medicaid or Medicare part D, refers eligible clients to WIC programs.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in patient scheduling, including procedures for walk-ins, overbooking, and rescheduling.
• Proficient knowledge of Medicaid and Medicare requirements.
