Job description

Overview

The Medical Assistant is a member of the clinic patient care team, performing clinical tasks and procedures to support the delivery of care. The role supports patient flow, coordinates referrals and testing, and acts as a liaison between medical assistants and providers.

Responsibilities
  • Care coordination for patient needs, tracking referrals and test completion.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop daily assignment plans.
  • Support Medical Assistants at Levels I, II, and III.
  • Patient flow management, including clinical documentation in partnership with physicians as the lead for the clinic.
  • Preceptor for new Medical Assistants and students.
  • Participate in internal clinic audits.
  • Communicate department and organizational updates and reminders.
  • Maintain MD schedules as needed.
  • Act as a resource for troubleshooting equipment and lead in the development of policies, procedures, and A3 projects for department improvement.
  • Attend at least one leadership class per year as required.
  • Scribe for providers when needed.
Knowledge
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Level I, II, and III duties.
  • Advanced expertise in interdisciplinary tasks requiring complex problem‑solving.
  • Understanding of organizational strategic goals and long‑term direction.
  • Leadership and resource management skills.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Medical Assistant diploma from an approved school or equivalent documented training.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related experience.
  • Ability to acquire new computer skills and serve as a resource for telemedicine.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions
  • Occasional sitting, constant walking, constant standing, constant bending, frequent squatting, occasional climbing, occasional kneeling.
  • Constant hand use with frequent repetitive motion, frequent grasping, occasional fine manipulation.
  • Frequent pushing and pulling, occasional reaching above shoulder level, frequent twisting and turning of neck and waist.
  • Constant vision requirements for color, peripheral, distance, and focus.
  • Lifting: frequent 0‑10 lbs, occasional 11‑20 lbs, 21‑30 lbs, 31‑40 lbs, seldom >40 lbs.
  • Working environment includes exposure to clinical equipment, biohazards, hazardous drugs, and occasional foot control operation.
Travel Requirements

20% travel.

Compensation

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $32.28 – $41.15 per hour.
