Overview
The Medical Assistant II is a member of the clinic patient care team. The position performs clinical tasks and procedures to support the delivery of care, assisting patients to obtain services in a timely manner and ensuring efficient utilization of resources in the coordination of patient care.
What You Will Do
- Perform independently all of Level I responsibilities and additional duties such as patient portal and inbox message management.
- Assist with physician procedures, referral inquiries, disability paperwork management, Rx refill & processing prior authorizations.
- Assist in coordinating clinic huddles, trainer/new employee orientation, and department A3 maintenance.
- Assist providers with telemedicine services and scribing, when needed.
- Apply knowledge independently, prioritize tasks, and serve as Electronic Medical Record System Super User.
- Work under the assigned area to develop expertise in a specialty area/clinic and participate in organizational projects.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Same as Level I, with additional ability to independently apply knowledge and prioritize tasks.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, Microsoft Office, electronic medical records, applicable scheduling system.
- Organizational and multi‑tasking skills to manage interruptions.
- Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with others.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or GED. Medical Assistant Diploma from an approved school/institution or equivalent documented training.
Experience
One (1) to three (3) years of related experience.
Licenses and Certifications
Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.

- Breathing and exposure to biohazards such as blood borne pathogens, hospital waste, hazardous drugs, etc.
Travel Requirements
20% travel.

Compensation
Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $28.29 – $36.07 per hour.
