Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent military training/EMT.
• Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills and proficiency with computer systems and EMR.
• Ability to perform routine and complex clinical tasks within Medical Assistant scope of practice.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and department policies when providing patient care.
• Performs rooming tasks: vital signs, medical history, obesity/screenings, medications reconciliation, health maintenance and allergies review.
• Assists provider with procedures as ordered and performs lab duties including venipuncture, specimen handling, and CLIA-waived tests.
• Administers medications and vaccines following the rights of medication administration.
• Support administrative tasks: referrals, insurance authorizations, scheduling, patient messaging, and supply ordering.
• Cross trained to support multiple clinic specialties and maintain clean, stocked work areas.
