POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a qualified and motivated Medical Assistant with experience in sterile processing of surgical instruments or willing to learn at our state-certified Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). This dual-role position supports patient care and ensures proper sterilization and maintenance of surgical tools in compliance with regulatory and infection control standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Medical Assistant Duties (Approx. 50%)
- Prepare patients for procedures and surgeries.
- Obtain and record vital signs, medical histories, and other relevant information.
- Assist surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses during procedures.
- Maintain accurate patient charts and electronic medical records (EMR).
- Stock and maintain clinical supplies.
- Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and state-specific regulations for ASCs.
Sterile Processing Duties (Approx. 50%)
- Decontaminate, clean, inspect, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and trays.
- Operate and maintain autoclaves and other sterilization equipment.
- Maintain accurate sterilization logs and documentation in compliance with state and federal standards.
- Monitor and perform biological testing and validation of sterilization processes.
- Organize and restock sterile storage areas, ensuring availability for surgical procedures.
- Follow all infection control protocols and safety standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent).
- Sterile Processing Technician Certification (CRCST, CBSPD) or willingness to learn.
- Previous experience in an ASC, hospital, or surgical clinic setting.
- Working knowledge of aseptic technique, instrument identification, and sterilization practices or willingness to learn.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION:
- Typical hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (subject to change based on surgical schedule).
