Medical Assistant II-Primary Care Fishers

Overview

Under the supervision of the designated supervisor and assigned physician, performs duties associated with direct patient care and clinical direction to provide patient care in accordance with organizational standards. Responsibilities include ensuring completeness of procedures and treatments, maintaining smooth patient flow, performing lab work, instructing patients, and ensuring timely execution of medical orders and referrals. Also performs registration, scheduling, maintains EMR files, and handles front office functions. May perform computerized physician order entry if directed by the physician. Expected to precept current MA team members or externs as requested.

Qualifications:

• AHA Basic Life Support certification required; other advanced life support certifications may be required per department.
• High school diploma or equivalent; graduation from a Medical Assistant program required.
• Current medical assisting certification from recognized certifying bodies (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, or CMAC).
• Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, ADA, ICD-10, CPT coding required.
• TB validation preferred or obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Knowledge of quality programs, Meaningful Use, and Standard Work concepts within 6 months of hire.
• Knowledge of standard lab and medical procedures, insurance plans, and third-party payers.
• Ability to master clinical competencies and perform accurate data entry skills.
