Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide primary support to providers, preparing patients for visits, assisting with treatments and procedures, and supporting clerical functions such as scheduling and referrals.

The role includes direct and indirect care activities, medication administration, patient education, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary care team to ensure efficient clinic operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months MA experience or successful completion of a Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant program from an accredited school required.
• Successful completion of Presbyterian MA Advanced Skills Training within 90 days of hire.
• BLS (AHA, Red Cross or ASHI Healthcare Provider) required.
• Maintains current certifications in required emergency response trainings (i.e. BLS).
• Completes all Organizational, Department of Nursing and Department-Specific competency training/requirements within specified timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for performing medical assistant procedures after completion of competency within organizations MA scope of work, under the supervision of a provider and PHS policy.
• Prepares patient for rooming and exam
• Prepares and administers medications and immunizations
• Suture/Staple removal and dressing changes
• Collects and prepares laboratory specimens
• Provides basic education to patients
• Sets up aseptic and sterile procedures
• Performs office-based procedures
• Performs basic foot care
• Assists with additional procedures as determined by provider
• Participates in the orientation of new hire MAs
• May perform regulatory audits
• Assists with visit closure
• Participates with care team to meet patient care and clinic needs.
• May perform scribe duties after completing PMG scribe training
• Performs other duties as directed
