We are searching for a Medical Assistant II for our Outpatient BCM/OBGYN Clinic at The Medical Center—someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment. In this role, you will provide patient care and excellent customer service, and assist in coordinating flow and provider schedules to effectively manage patient care.

As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Qualifications

One of the following required:

• CCMA - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant certificate from the National Healthcareer Association
• CMA-AAM - Certified Medical Assistant from the American Association of Medical Assistants
• EMT - Certified Emergency Medical Technician from the Texas Department of State and Health Services
• EMT-A - Certified Advanced Emergency Medical Technologist from the Texas Department of State and Health Services
• EMT-B - Certified Emergency Medical Technologist-Basic from the Texas Department of State and Health Services
• EMT-I - Certified Emergency Medical Technologist-Intermediate from the Texas Department of State and Health Services
• EMT-P - Certified Emergency Medical Technologist-Paramedic from the Texas Department of State and Health Services
• LIC PAR - License Paramedic from the Texas Department of State and Health Services
• NCMA - National Medical Assistant Certification from the National Center for Competency Testing
• NRCMA - Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant from the National Association of Health Professionals
• RMA - Registered Medical Assistant from the American Association of Medical Personnel, American Allied Health, American Medical Technologists, or American Registry of Medical Assistants
• Two years of related experience required

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer inquiries regarding appointment status, wait times, or issues
• Perform patient registration procedures according to clinic process
• Use the patient management system to mark patient arrivals and open accounts
• Update the status of all non-arrived patients daily to reflect cancellations, no-shows, or rescheduling
• Prioritize patients for rooming based on appointment and arrival times and other clinic protocols
• Assist licensed staff with inpatient admission processes as needed
• Help with patient escorts and paperwork
• Collect and document patient/family data, including biophysical and psychosocial information, within clinic scope
• Report abnormal or out-of-range data to RN or provider
• Ensure requisitions contain necessary clinical, demographic, billing, and payor information
• Monitor patient flow and adjust staffing as necessary to minimize wait times
