Job summary

Indiana University Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant to support direct patient care under supervision and to ensure accurate execution of orders and smooth workflow. The role includes basic lab work, patient instruction, and front-office tasks in a clinical setting at our Tipton location.

Candidate should hold a CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/CMAC certification and a valid BLS. Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT coding, OSHA/CLIA/ADA, and EMR systems is expected.

Qualifications

• AHA Basic Life Support certification required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; MA program preferred.
• Certification in medical assisting (CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/CMAC) required.
• Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA required.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required.
• TB validation preferred or within 6 months of hire.
• Knowledge of quality programs and Meaningful Use concepts within 6 months.
• Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures.
• Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers.
• Ability to master standard clinical competencies per policy and data entry skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under supervision and clinical direction.
• Ensure completeness of ordered procedures and treatments and smooth patient flow.
• Perform registration, scheduling, and EMR maintenance as needed.
• Precept MA team members or externs as requested by leadership.
