Scheduled Hours: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Shift: 1 - Day Shift, 8 Hours (United States of America)

Hours: 40

Cost Center: 10020 - 0156 Ambulatory Float Pool

Union: SHARE (State Healthcare and Research Employees)

Major Responsibilities:
  1. Escort patients to examination rooms, take and record vital signs such as blood pressures, temperatures, height, weight, etc. Collect and document patient health status, history, and monitor patient progress following standard procedures.
  2. Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, Point of Care (POC) tests according to clinic/office standards.
  3. Prepare, document, and administer non-intravenous injections as directed or required by the office/clinic, within scope of practice.
  4. Assist in performing routine physical examinations or clinical procedures.
  5. Review laboratory results and ensure abnormal results are immediately brought to the attention of the physicians and others, as appropriate.
Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Heart Saver (HS) certification from the American Heart Association. If not available upon hire, must be obtained within 3 months.
  • Medical Assistant credential, approved by the Massachusetts Department of Health, must be obtained within 1 year from the date of hire/transfer. Extensions may be granted for extenuating circumstances.
