Job summary

Penn State Health is seeking a Medical Assistant II/Cast Tech for Orthopedics General in Pennsylvania. The role includes assisting with health care services, collecting specimens, and supporting administrative tasks such as patient flow and scheduling.

You will also precept new medical assistants and MA students. Minimum qualifications include a CMA or RMA certification, a high school diploma, two years of outpatient MA experience, and BLS either current or obtained within six months.

• Two (2) years of experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient practice or clinical specialty area required.
• BLS certification required or must obtain BLS Certification within 6 months of employment date.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance with healthcare services, specimen collection, and routine lab studies.
• Coordinate patient flow, scheduling appointments, and phone messages; assist with administrative tasks.
• Serve as a trained preceptor for new medical assistant orientation and for instruction of medical assistant students.

Responsible for providing assistance with various health care services, for obtaining specimens, for conducting routine lab studies of specimens, and for assisting with administrative functions such as coordinating patient flow and scheduling appointments and phone messages. Serve as a trained preceptor for new medical assistant orientation and for instruction of medical assistant students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Current active status as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistant certification required.

Two (2) years of experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient practice or clinical specialty area required.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must obtain BLS Certification within 6 months of employment date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
• Associates Degree
