Job summary

Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center is seeking candidates to perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the supervision of a provider. The role involves scheduling, medical records, billing and coding, as well as taking vital signs, patient histories, and assisting with examinations.

The qualified candidate will have a High School diploma, CMA or RMA certification, and BLS certification (or obtain within 6 months).

  • Certification/registration as CMA or RMA within 90 days of employment or current active CMA/RMA status.
  • BLS certification required or obtain within 6 months of employment date.

Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by provider.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must meet current eligibility to sit for the exam with attainment of certification or registration through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistants within 90-days of employment date or current active status as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistant certification required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must obtain BLS Certification within 6 months of employment date.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
  • Previous outpatient experience preferred.
