Job summary

Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center seeks a Medical Assistant for its Contingency Pool. You will room patients, perform point-of-care testing, phlebotomy, injections, and administer medications, while handling asynchronous admin tasks.

Job description

The Medical Assistant of the Contingency Pool will be expected to perform the following duties throughout their designated assignments: room patients, conduct Point-of-Care Testing, perform phlebotomy and injections, administer medications, and complete asynchronous administrative work. The MA should anticipate working with varied populations ranging from pediatrics to geriatric patients.

The ideal MA for this position will be able to work within a team environment and independently. With each assignment, it will be expected that the Medical Assistant will meet not only the Contingency’s Pool expectations but also those of the assigned office. It is important to be punctual and promptly report to all assignments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must meet current eligibility to sit for the exam with attainment of certification or registration through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistants within 90-days of employment date or current active status as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistant certification required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must obtain BLS Certification within 6 months of employment date.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
  • Previous outpatient experience preferred.
