Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment in the Greater Charlotte area. You will perform routine clinical tasks, assist providers, and support lab duties including POCT and specimen handling.

The role requires completing an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent training, plus relevant clinical experience. Strong communication and teamwork are essential, with emphasis on safety and patient experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or may have completed structured military training which is clinical in nature per DD214 in lieu of a formal medical assistant program or EMT.
• Two years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks including vital signs, med reconciliation, medical history, screenings.
• Assists provider with procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab duties including venipuncture, specimen handling, POCT per standing order.
• Administers medications and vaccines safely.
• Handles referrals, scheduling, and patient communications.
• Maintains clean, stocked work areas and supports onboarding of teammates.
• Demonstrates effective communication, teamwork, and escalation as needed.
• Knowledge to provide age-appropriate care across the lifespan.
